About:
The fourth book published by C. S. Lewis in The Chronicles of Narnia. The first book of the series to not feature the Pevensie children, but Eustace Scrubb and his recently made friend Jill Pole. When hiding from school bullies, Eustace and Jill are by a door they know should be locked. In a desperate bid for escape, they discover the door is not only unlocked, but opening to a world Jill has only just learned of, Narnia.
Separated from Eustace shortly upon arrival, Jill meets Aslan. She is told of the task that Aslan called them to Narnia for, the finding and rescue of a lost prince. Jill learns four “signs” she and Eustice must watch for that will guide them on their quest. Unfortunately, they miss the first, the meeting of an old friend, King Caspian X.
They come upon another familiar face to Eustice, but upon advice, do not speak of their quest. After being given more details of their quest by a wise council, Eustace and Jill head off. On their travels they discover that allies and enemies come in all forms, and they must use discernment to know the truth.
At last recognizing the third guiding sign Aslan had spoken of, Eustace, Jill, and their friend Puddleglum reach their final destination. Their quest almost complete, they must trust in the final sign of Aslan to not only rescue the lost prince Rilian, but also to defeat the evil attempting to take control of Narnia.
